Dennis Leahy, M.D.

Dennis Leahy, M.D.Dr. Dennis Leahy was born in Chicago, Illinois.  After receiving his undergraduate degree from Princeton University, he went on to receive his medical degree from Columbia University where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society. He graduated with Honors from both institutions.  Dr. Leahy completed his internship and residency at UCSD Medical Center.  He is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology and Internal Medicine.  He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, member of the San Diego County Medical Society, Speakers’ Board-American Heart Association, American College of Physicians, North American Society for Pacing and Electrophysiology, Alpha Omega Alpha, and Society of Sigma Xi.

Dr. Leahy and his wife Kate have lived and raised their four children in Rancho Bernardo.  He remains an enthusiastic and avid surfer.

Awards and Honors:

Voted “Best Doctors in America” 1997 to 2011 representing the nation’s most respected specialists. 

Awarded “Super Doctor” status in 2011, which identifies physicians who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. 

Selected as one of “America’s Top Cardiologists” by Consumer’s Research Council of America 2007-2010. 

Honored by the San Diego Chapter of the American Heart Association at the 2010 Heart Ball for his work with STEMI’s (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction).

First place winner in prose by the San Diego County Medical Society Literature Prize for essay “Bronwyn.”
